Upcoming 2010 Season
2010 is going to see a few changes in CODE4. Andy Allen and Matt Brooks will not be racing next season. They hope to ride in an endurance race but will not be fielding a bike next season. Dan Sewell is going to focus his attention on TWF Racing and not try to feather the lines between to "homes". Cassie Gaddy is planning to mount her 636 for the full AFM season, while the rest of our riders will be doing only partial seasons with AFM and/or WERA. The reasons range from work schedules, moves, the economy and other personal reasons. CODE4 will still be present at all of the AFM events and as many WERA rounds as we can send riders too.
While successful, 2009 was a tougher season for CODE4 and we look forward to a smoother and more enjoyable 2010.
2009 AFM Final Results
It's been a really tough year for many of our racers due to mechanical issues, injuries, work schedules or just the economy keeping them from the track. We only had two riders who were able to make every round of the AFM Championship series (Charlie Burow and Dan Sewell). We still had the support of the whole team throughout the season and many were able to make the trek out to the track to support, even when they could not race. And even with the some of the hardships we had within the team, we were still able to pull together a $540 cash donation for the "AFM Corner Worker's Appreciation Event" held at the last round to show our thanks to all of their efforts throughout the season to support us and make it possible to do what we love. Without their help and dedication, we would not be able to safely run at these tracks.
With all that in mind, we still posted some good results for CODE4 in the Formula IV and 650 Twins classes.
Dan Sewell
2009 Formula IV Class Champion
2010 AFM #10 Plate Holder
3rd Overall in 650 Twins
Scott Lesniewski
9th Overall in 650 Twins and Forum la IV
Charlie Burow
15th Overall in 650 Twins and Forum la IV
During the off season, we will be planning out our 2010 season, working with existing sponsors to continue our relationship into next season as well as begin new relationship to grow on. The bikes (and bodies) will get the attention they deserve to be sure we come back stronger than ever. We thank everyone that visits our pages to follow our progress and read the race reports, as well as our friends and families for their love and support.
New Gloves offered from ACT Racing
These are some INCREDIBLE gloves. The quality and fit are outstanding and they feel amazing on track. The design and fit allow even more feedback from the bars, and the better the glove feels... the better control you have of the bike. If you have a glove that gets baggy in the palm or binds in the fingers, it affects how well you can feel the bikes movements. These glove (which have kangaroo leather in the palms) have all the protection you could ask for and the fit of light weight glove.
There are two levels that will be offered and the price is still to be determined as they go into full production, but we will be sure to post up the information as soon as the information is available.
Dan Sewell Tested them out at this weekends final AFM round:
"As soon as I put the gloves on I loved the fit. Then as I looked at the details of the glove (the protection, materials, design)
I fell in love with them. On track they felt lighter and more flexible than any other glove I've worn... and I had better feel. I didn't
get the numbness I get in most other gloves from different pinch points either. These are now my absolute favorite gloves,
hands down!"

SuperMotoUSA Update :D
We are going to get published! MotorCycleNews is a monthly motorcycle publication in the UK that caught the SVMotard images and are going to run an article on how it came to be. It's not a big piece, but it's exciting. We will pass along more information when the article goes to print.
SuperMotoUSA out at RFR
Steve and Dan went out to RFR to support the second Road Racing event put on out there for motorcycles. Last year we had an event hosted by Z2TrackDays, but this year it was a smaller vent run in coordination with the SuperMototUSA National event. The Race schedule and paddock were both a full mix of SuperMoto and Road Racers. It was great to have everyone mixed in together and it made for an exciting day. Look for the Race Reports in the riders Results page which you can navigate to from Their BIO.
There was an exciting twist to the day when Dan decided to field his SV650 out in the 35+ Motard race. After only getting 3 practice laps in to make sure the bike could get around the dirt in an OK fashion, it was show time as everyone in the paddock lined the fences to watch the lumbering twin hit the dirt. Amazingly, only the tires hit the dirt and he managed a 4th in his heat and a 5th in the main. There are plenty of forms buzzing about the SVMotard action, here are just a few local links:

The NEW PSR Steering Damper.
This thing is excellent. The installation was simple and went on with a perfect fit. Dan Sewell ordered one for the GSXR front end so it could be tested on both the 06 GSXR750 as well as his SV60 with a GSXR front end. The result were wonderful for both street use on the GSXR and the track tests with the SV.
"I've used several different brands and styles of dampers on my SV and all of them have left me with a little bit of head shake. I tested the new PSR damper at Thunderhill on my SV and for the first time in 3 seasons, I could keep the throttle open over the hill in turn 9 without getting head shake. I would always have to back of the throttle just a touch, to keep the front end under control as it lofts over the hill. With this damper from PSR.... I could comfortably keep on the throttle and really drive down the hill into 10. I look forward to using it next week at Infineon to help stabilize the bike over 3b and over the hill into turn 6 " -- Dan Sewell AFM#6
The new dampers are available for newer model bikes. Dan was able to use the new GSXR damper with his front end, but it did require some fabrication for the frame mount since the mounts are not made for older generation SV's. But on the 06 GSXR it was as easy installation. they are available in a variety of colors from PSR www.PSR-USA.com. Be sure to tell them CODE4 sent you !

New ACT racing CODE4 leathers
for round #4, CODE4 will be protected with incredible team leathers from ACT Racing. Andy at ACT has been incredible to work with and has made this a great experience for the team. He stocks several styles of suits and they are all constructed with safety as the foremost concern. We are very excited to work with ACT, so be sure to look for us at ThunderHill in July! it's going to be hard to miss a pack of these coming through the pits !!!
May Races!!!!
CODE4 is going to be split between two conflicting events at the end of this month. 1/2 of us will be at Miller Motorsports out in Utah for the WERA nationals and endurance series, while the rest of us will be at Infineon Raceway in Sanoma CA. Hopefully you can come out to the track to share in the fun!
Gustavo "Tavo" Arriaza is now CODE4 !!!!
Tavo came to us in the beginning of 2008 and quickly became a part of the family. He started off a little shy tending to stick the the perimeter of the conversations, mostly listening.... Then he got comfortable with us and it was all over :LOL His giving nature, happy smile and willingness to help out in any situation has shown us that he truly is "family". His commitment has never wavered and he continually offers up help, food, support and tons of smiles. I feel Tavo has clearly demonstrated what it means to be a part of CODE4 and he consistently shows the selfless nature that this team was based on.
We are proud to have him in our "family"
2009 AFM Season Opener at Buttonwillow Raceway
The start of 2009 was not as spectacular as we would of like. Due to some financial issues with a few riders with economy's downturn and work scheduling conflicts, we only had 5 of our riders at the event. We were able to find a prime pit spot on the track exit and still set up a great appearance. Leading up to the event was an incredibly busy week. Dan was building up a fully prepped "B" bike to be ready for the season, but he didn't get all the parts in early enough in the month. Scott woke up the Monday before the event to find that the cold Tahoe nights had crept quietly into his garage and froze the coolant in his block (we cannot run glycol due to it's slippery attributes) and his motor was rendered useless. Charlie and Scott spent the next few days taking the motor out and looking for a quick replacement. By Thursday, Rick Ford from Twin Works Factory offered up a spare motor so the trip was on.... 4 hours in the opposite direction of the event.
Friday's open practice day was beautiful, but Dan choose to spent the morning going over all of the late night work for one last safety check while Scott and Charlie finished buttoning up the last of the motor install and getting all the peripherals back on the bike. It was a smart choice to relax, slow down and focus on the afternoon sessions to ride. This proved beneficial as we ended the day with great base-line settings for Saturday and all the winter cob-webs knocked off.
Saturday was another beautiful day with the exception of a wind steadily picking up throughout the day making the fast sweepers and transitions a little more exiting. The day went un-eventful for the most part and everyone felt great for Sunday. There was a chance for late night rain showers, but we all went to sleep with positive thoughts.
Sunday.... what a morning. Wet grounds, high winds and a pit full of apprehension and confusion. The AMF Board met early to determine a course of action for the day, trying to weight the options of getting a full race day in with the hopes of continued sun while being threatened by rain on all sides. After much discussion and a little decention, the choice was made to race. So we geared up and went on course. Saturday's winds made perfect practice for the Sunday race conditions. By the start of the first race, we had sunny skies, high winds and a perfectly dry track. With shortened races and no lunch break, the day went off successfully, if you don't include the enormous crash rate. Charlie and Scott had voted to not race in the conditions, a choice that was later discovered to be irreversible so they where not able to grid up. Matt Brooks did well in his races improving on his personal best at Buttonwillow from last season. Dan Sewell also had a good showing putting in two great battles in on his Twin Works Factory SV, finishing 2nd in both of his races.
CODE4 is now working with Pirelli tires for the 2009 season and all the riders on them had only good things to say. Even Charlie, who is not comfortable with change, felt very comfortable on the new tires and is looking forward to using them at the next Infineon round in April. Chris was right there for support all weekend and made sure CODE4 was taken care of.
We had good finishes, no crashes and were able to make a solid showing for our sponsors. The new MorePoweRacing.com canopy really got the attention in our pits and generated a lot of questions and discussions with passerbys. we look forward to more of that in rounds to come. Check out the Race Reports and results for the riders that were at the event and look for a better turn out at Infineon in April.
2009 Season - "Pre-Season"
CODE4 met recently to finalize details for the 2009 season. While the WERA West season began in January, the 2009 AMF season opener is on March 21. This will be the first race of 2009 for most of CODE4. This will also mark the beginning for newest member Cassie Gaddy. We will have the core team present at every AFM round and in full force working with Z2TrackDays throughout the season, but sadly, we will not see Dean Pacich this season and we have 2 riders with conflicting schedules that may keep them out for several rounds.
All of our sponsors are back from 2008 as well as some new additions. We are still working through the details and we will update you as soon as we get confirmation. We are very excited and it will be another great year for CODE4.
AFM 2008 Season Banquet - January 17.
Held at the Berkeley Marina Double Tree, the year end banquet is always a fun time. We are looking forward to celebrating CODE4's accomplishments and our top 10 plate holder Dan Sewell ( #6).
AFM 2008 Season Wrap-up
Dan Sewell - Formula IV 2008 AFM Champion & 2008 Top Points Earnings for the club.
This puts Dan in the #6 plate for the 2009 season. He also finished 2nd in 650 Twins, missing the championship by 1 point.
Andy Allen finished in the Top 10 for 600 Production (8th overall) as well as a Top 15 in Formula I
Scott Lesniewski finished in the Top 15 of Formula IV and 650 Twins, even after missing two rounds of AFM action !!!!
Charlie Burow finished top 20 in 650 Twins, also missing two rounds of the AFM.
David Lucero had a GREAT first year on his GSXR 750. He adapted quickly to the bike ( coming from the Open Twins class onboard a Ducati ) and he had a crash free season !!!!! that is something David has not seen for some time. He had a run of bad luck between mechanicals and careless racers. We kept looking for the target on his back, but apparently it was a target that only careless riders could see.
Matt Brooks and Steve Hylan had a great season running their 600's. Matt ran very consistent on his new 08 R6 and with a few mechanical issues resolved, we expect a great 2009 Season.
Steve recently jumped on board an 07 GSXR 600 but had to miss the last round due to family commitments. We also expect a great 2009 season out of him on the Suzuki
Matt Patroli and Dean Pacich had great first seasons in the 650 Twins classes. Both beating their personal best and continually improving throughout the season.
October Updates
AFM Round #8 at Buttonwillow
Check each rider's individual race reports and results.
Corner Worker Fund - Our Treasurer Michelle Sewell, worked all season to collect $ at each round from the CODE 4 racers and support crew to put toward the year end Corner Workers Fund held at the last round. CODE 4 donated $525 cash to the fund thanks to her efforts. Thanks Meesh !!!!!!
September Updates #2
Only one round left! CODE 4 had a GREAT weekend at Infineon at round #7. Look for updates on the Endurance race as well as individual sprints. Scott Pulled out a drag-race finish in Formula IV to get a podium finish!!!
Dan had a win in 650 Twins for the "Lunch time Podium" and fumbled his way through the speeches and Champaign spray. This event puts him solidly in the lead for both the 650 Twins and Formula IV championships and still with a good lead for the #6 AFM plate.
The Endurance podiums were full of CODE4 riders. Scott and Charlie took the WIN in 650 Twins class, each running a 2 hour leg with their 7 Gal tank !!!!!! It was a great race. David and his 750 team had a top finish as well, but due to scoring issues they were bumped off the podium after an official review and finished 4th.
September Updates!!!
After 6 of 8 rounds complete, CODE4 is still looking strong.
We did see a light turn out of riders for the last round. Matt P was repairing from his crash, Andy. was taking full advantage of hunting season and Scott & Charlie were saving up to mount an attack to win the AFM 650Twins class in the upcoming endurance race.
Dan moved back in the lead for 650 Twins hoping to win two championships for the season.
Steve is moving to an 06 GSXR600 for the remainder of the '08 season, so we hope to see him settle into that bike quickly.
NEXT UP: the AFM 4 Hour Endurance race at Infineon and Round #7 of the series. We expect a full house at this event!

AFM Round 3 - Infineon - May 25, 2008
CODE4 had both a great weekend and a rough weekend at the same time. Highlights would be a WIN in Formula IV by Dan with a LOW point being Dean getting transported to the hospital for a crash in Turn 9. He was taken out by another rider and suffered a head injury. He was released Sunday evening and went home with Brian at the helm of his truck. As we get updates and have his race report ready, we will get the update up on the site.
CODE4 really showed our family's strength TWICE this weekend. The team rallied around Veronica and the kids to help comfort them while we were waiting on word of Dean's Condition. CODE4 also came together for one of our sponsors Joe (4TheRiders.com) who had a bad street crash and was care-flighted to the hospital last week. He was at the event in support of the riders and we set the 4TR home base up in our pit. We also all chipped in to help with a few bills while insurance was in process..
Look for updates from Andy on his great finish in 600 class, Matt P with his bike issues and the rest of the team on the weekend.
New Sponsor !!! Grafik Air
We will be working with the artists at Grafik Air for our custom helmet painting for the 2008 season. They do custom helmet painting, bike painting and just about anything else you'd want to put custom paint on. Check out their site at www.GrafikAir.com and take a look at the samples. Mike has painted Brian Hunt's helmet and is in the process of painting Dan's.
When you come see us at the track, take a look at their work, it's AMAZING!!!!!!
AFM Round #2 Infineon 4/27/2008.
CODE4 had a good weekend, but not without a few "issues". We had two riders crash but neither was injured and both bikes were able to be fixed back and ridden. Andy Allen had another great finish in 600 class. David Lucero is continuing to get better and better on the new 750 and is loving it. Dean Pacich jumped onto an SV650 and hasn't stopped giggling yet. Dan Sewell celebrated his wife's birthday with two wins on his TWF 650. Over all it was a great weekend. You can look at the race reports and results as they are updated.
WERA Las Vegas Speedway - April 12/13.
CODE4 teamed up with Twin Works Factory to head down to the Las Vegas WERA round. You can read the results and write ups for Dan Sewell and David Lucero.
The weekend was a blast!!!!
AFM Round #1 Buttonwillow 3/23/2008.
CODE4 started the season off great. We had the whole team present and everyone was ready to start the season off right. We had two podium finishes (including a WIN!) by Dan Sewell, two top 5 finishes by Scott Lesniewski and a 7th place in F1 by Andy Allen just to name a few. Over all, the team hit personal bests for lap times and class finishes, all with no crashes and very few mechanical issues... which is saying A LOT for the season opener. All the preparation time and attention to detail paid off.
We had a great showing of our MorePowerRacing shirts in the pits and I over heard people saying "Those CODE4 guys.... they're everywhere" more than once. We made a great showing and pulled in a lot of attention for our sponsors. Check out each riders results page and look for their race reports as they are updated.
The 2008 AFM Season Begins March 23.
CODE4 will all be at the season opener down at Buttonwillow raceway outside of Bakersfield, CA. We will be getting a new team picture from Joe at 4TheRiders as well as new rider shots.
Be sure to check back shortly after the race weekend to check out all the results and race reports.

David has his GSXR 750 Track ready. He is looking to get a second set of bodywork for his Z2 / Code4 double duty
Matt Brooks is still getting his new '08 R6 ready. Just a few more items ( and paint ) and he's ready
Matt Petrali has repairs to do on his new SV bodywork to get it ready for paint
Andy has is R6 Freshly painted and ready for the season opener.
Dean is going to run his CBR another season. It has a few items straighten from a Round #8 crash and new brakes.
Steve's bike just needs the general 'once-over' and finish the paint on the tank.
Dan's SV is getting a full make-over now that he is racing for Twin Works Factory.
Zoran at Twin Works Factory
has rebuilt many of our shocks/forks for the start of the season. He also has Dan's SV650 motor so he can give it a good "once-over" to make sure it's ready for another season.
